The Beginning
The company started in 2003 in Elkhart, Indiana. A group of seasoned pros in the RV industry decided things needed to change. They recognized systemic issues with the available models over the last few decades and knew things could be better. They wanted to improve the design and construction process and got to work.
Their first model was called the Landmark. It was a high-end fifth wheel offering a cutting-edge 88-degree turn radius. This kept the newer extended truck cabs from scraping the corner of the RV during a tight turn. The model also utilized a new interior floor plan to maximize space, setting a new industry standard for layouts.
The next two models released, the Sundance and the Cyclone, also saw great success. It wasn't long before Heartland RV expanded enough to require building a 110,000 square-foot factory space. Two years later they built an additional manufacturing space that covered 80,000 square feet.
All of this success took place at a time when the RV industry had stagnated. Heartland RV's focus on innovation and using quality materials earned them respect among customers. Their rapid growth was a reflection of their refusal to compromise on their mission: create better RVs.
